Step 5: Reenable Hibernation and Sleep

CAUTION:
information loss if the Slate reaches a critical battery level.
1.
Tap the Power icon in the Top Bar of the Home screen, and then tap Power Options.
– or –
Tap the Power icon in the notification area, at the far right of the taskbar, and then tap Power
Options.
– or –
Tap Start > Control Panel > System and Security > Power Options.
2.
Under the current power plan, tap Change plan settings.
3.
Reenter the settings that you recorded for the items in the On battery column.
4.
Tap Change advanced power settings.
5.
Double-tap the plus sign next to Sleep, and then double-tap the plus sign next to Hibernate
after.
6.
Reenter the setting that you recorded for On battery.
7.
Tap OK.
8.
Tap Save changes.

Conserving battery power

Tap the Power saver power plan through Power Options under System and Security in
Windows Control Panel.
Turn off wireless and local area network (LAN) connections and exit modem applications when
you are not using them.
Disconnect external devices that are not plugged into an external power source, when you are
not using them.
Stop, disable, or remove any external media cards that you are not using.
If you leave your work, initiate Sleep or Hibernation, or shut down the Slate.

Shutting down the Slate

CAUTION:
The Shut down command closes all open programs, including the operating system, and then turns
off the display and Slate.
Shut down the Slate when the Slate is unused and disconnected from external power for an extended
period.
Although you can shut down the Slate with the power switch, the recommended procedure is to use
the Windows Shut down command.

Failure to reenable Hibernation after calibration may result in a full battery discharge and
