When Sleep is initiated, the screen clears. Your work is saved to memory, letting you exit the Sleep state faster than exiting Hibernation. If the Slate is in the Sleep state for an extended period or if the battery reaches a critical battery level while in the Sleep state, the Slate initiates Hibernation. -

The battery charges whenever the Slate is plugged into external power through an AC adapter. The battery charges whether the Slate is off or in use, but it charges faster when the Slate is off. Charging may take longer if a battery is new, has been unused for 2 weeks or more, or is much warmer or cooler than room temperature. -

Plug the Slate into external power and maintain external power until the battery is fully recharged. You can use the Slate while the battery is recharging, but the battery charges faster if the Slate is off. If the Slate is off, turn it on when the battery is fully charged. -

The Shut down command closes all open programs, including the operating system, and then turns off the display and Slate. Shut down the Slate when the Slate is unused and disconnected from external power for an extended period. Although you can shut down the Slate with the power switch, the recommended procedure is to use the Windows Shut down command. - Page 41 To shut down the Slate, follow these steps: NOTE: If the Slate is in the Sleep state or in Hibernation, you must first exit Sleep or Hibernation before shutdown is possible. Your Slate may be equipped with one or more of the following wireless devices: ● Wireless local area network (WLAN) device—Connects the Slate to wireless local area networks (commonly referred to as Wi-Fi networks, wireless LANs, or WLANs) in corporate offices, your home, and public places such as airports, restaurants, coffee shops, hotels, and universities. -
