the HP StorageWorks D2D4000 Backup System provides consolidated disk-based data protection for up
to 16 servers in a 2U rack-mountable device. It offers a choice of raw capacity points of 4.5tB and 9tB;
speeds of up to 325 gB/hour; and either dual iSCSI or dual Fibre Channel connectivity options.
the D2D4000 features Dynamic Deduplication, which removes redundant data, resulting in up to 50x more backup data retained in the same
disk space. this cost-effective approach stores more data on disk for longer, providing access to an increased number of available 'recovery
points' and faster restore of lost or corrupted files. Seamlessly integrating into existing Windows or Linux environments, the D2D4000 works
with backup applications to automate the daily backup of multiple servers. Fewer devices to manage reduces media handling errors.
While the D2D4000 is ideal for daily backup jobs, regular offload to tape is still recommended as part of a disk-to-disk- to-tape (D2D2t)
solution combining the high data availability of disk with cost-effective long-term archival and offsite disaster recovery using tape. an easy-to-
use tape offload feature copies or exports cartridges from the system to a physical tape without affecting the performance of the network.
