NOTE:
This chapter is not relevant for the HPE StoreOnce 3500 Series or the HPE StoreOnce 3100 System.
The HPE StoreOnce 5100 System supports capacity expansion by the addition of up to five Capacity
Upgrade Kits.
The system must be taken offline before replacing most components. The only parts that are hot-pluggable
are:
Hard disks: follow the same procedure as replacing a hard disk in the server.
Fan modules
Power supply modules
NOTE:
Before replacing the I/O module or SAS cables, thoroughly check that all cables are fully seated and
connected. Refer also to the instructions supplied with the I/O module and to earlier sections in this
guide for illustrations showing SAS cabling.

Removing and replacing the I/O module

Procedure
1. Power down the HPE StoreOnce 5100 System.
2. Unplug the cables from the back panel of the I/O module.
3. If the I/O module is in the only Capacity Upgrade expansion shelf or the last shelf in the daisy chain, there
is one cable to disconnect. If it is one of several daisy-chained Capacity Upgrade shelves, there will be two
cables to disconnect on the I/O module.
4. Loosen the captive retaining thumbscrew (1), and swing out the hood latch (2).
